Staying Connected in the Age of Social Distancing

Finding ways to remain connected without the physical closeness is challenging, but the silver lining is found when families use old-fashioned creativity, the great outdoors, and virtual spaces to connect and sustain each other.

  • Encourage the use of social apps like Skype, FaceTime, or Google Hangout so you and your kids can stay connected with friends and loved ones
  • Plan virtual playdates to help cooped-up kids feel some sense of balance and normalcy
  • Dust off the cards/board games and have family tournaments
  • Arrange “virtual” group exercise classes, book clubs or game nights with family members and/or friends
  • Cook together and incorporate science and math lessons for the young ones
  • Camp out in the family room with blankets, popcorn and family-favorite movies
  • Turn off the TV and read together
  • Take walks as a family

Here are other positive, creative ways to connect with others online.
